Dr Joachim Tretzel
R&D Lead

Biochemistry and applied research
Dr Joachim Tretzel trained in physical biochemistry at the University of Würzburg, including spectroscopy and the study of fast biochemical processes. His early work extended into membrane technology, enzymes, microorganisms and fermentation, bringing together experimental questions and practical technological applications.
International research and quality leadership
At Döhler, Joachim held senior product, quality and research roles and ultimately headed global R&D. He worked across the ingredient, beverage and biotechnology landscape, connecting specialist disciplines with international research operations. He later served as President of SGF, the fruit-juice quality and authenticity organisation; in 2025 he became an Honorary President.
Scientific standards in real products
Joachim has worked with enzymes, fermentation and complex food and beverage systems, as well as international quality and authenticity questions. He served as President of SGF and became an Honorary President in 2025. That experience matters to brands whose product truths must be technically credible, repeatable and appropriately described.
Across Science and Studios
Joachim's R&D leadership connects open scientific questions with the evidence needed to make responsible product decisions. The same enquiry can lead to several applications, and the requirements of a particular brand may expose new questions. The purpose is to understand when a technical benefit is supported by evidence, not to retrofit a claim to a consumer proposition.
